Today was my “Sweat for Team Tufts” fundraising event at OrangeTheory Fitness (OTF) of Nashua. Oh. Em. Gee. IT WAS FREAKIN AWESOME! To have 24 people come out on a Saturday afternoon to help support Tufts Medical Center and my journey to Boston felt AMAZING! I am beyond grateful for everyone that attended. The majority of attendees were friends or family, but there were also a handful of folks that I had never met which blew my mind. One attendee, Joanne, and I met when I arrived and she said she heard about my event and has fundraised in the past and works out at OTF so she decided to come out and help support me. I couldn’t be more thankful for people like Joanne! The feeling of having strangers show up and back my efforts really was out of this world FANTASTIC!
For the first time since my very first OTF class, I arrived and felt nervous. I have no idea why, but I think it was a combination of nerves and excitement knowing I’d be working out surrounded by so many awesome people and for such a great cause. The waiting room was full of attendees already getting their paperwork completed and their heart rate monitors on. The positive energy was through the roof! I just kept thinking, “LET’S DO THIS!”
Christine was our instructor with help from Kristina. I wondered how they were going to manage so many new people in a class at once, but man, did they ever! Christine is OUTSTANDING at teaching these classes. She takes charge, is confident, gets everyone moving right away, and makes sure all the prompts are clear so that everyone knows exactly what they should be doing and when. I sure as hell couldn’t do that without turning it into a big mess! THANK YOU CHRISTINE!!! The workout was insane as always with about half of the class spent busting our butts on the treadmill and the other half pushing ourselves to the limits with strength work on the floor. At one point, during the pushup portion of a burpee, my arms gave out from laughing with a friend and I may or may not have fallen face first onto the floor…hey, at least I can laugh at myself! I got back up and kept going…that’s all that matters!
As a class, we earned over 500 splat points and burned over 12,700 calories in just under an hour. By the end, we were all covered in sweat, shirts soaked and sticking to our bodies, but still smiling!
A huge thanks to Karen and Dwayne at OTF who allowed me the opportunity to hold this event at their studio. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Tufts Medical Center…that’s over $500.00 that will benefit so many other families who need the outstanding care that is provided at Tufts. WOW!
Also, a big shout out to Honey Stinger for providing me with bags, stickers, and Caramel Waffles to include in my swag bags for each attendee. Additionally, to Arctic Ease for providing their amazing Arctic Ease Cold Wraps which each attendee walked away with. Last but not least, to Bondi Bands for their awesome headbands which everyone also got to take home. Some serious swag for some serious sweat!
Six lucky individuals left with a giveaway which we drew at the end of class thanks to Runner’s Alley, New Balance, Sweaty Bands, and Fitletic. The lucky winner of our big item, a $50 Runner’s Alley gift card, was Rachel G…WOOHOO!!!
If you’re looking for an outstanding workout that will challenge you, push you to your limits, and leaving you feeling out of this world, check out OrangeTheory Fitness of Nashua. They are opening a new location as well in South Nashua on Spit Brook Road.
I am overwhelmed with gratitude to every single person that took part in this event whether it was to plan, organize (thank you Wendy!), attend, instruct, provide giveaways, take pictures (thank you Beth!), or just plain support a great cause. We should all feel really great about today knowing that we sweat it out for Team Tufts! If anyone can lift a drink tonight, toast to yourself because YOU ARE AMAZING!
